Origin of said society
A number of the parishioners of Armagh Parish Franklin County Missouri in order to establish a more perfect union among each other, and also to diffuse knowledge among its members, to assist its worthy pastor in objects of a benevolent character and for general purposes of benevolence did by the advice and consent of their worthy pastor agree to meet at the residence of Rev. Father Berry on Dec 31st for the purpose of organizing themselves into a society for the purposes aforementioned.
Pursuant to agreement A meeting of the Parishioners of St. Patrick’s church was held in the residence of the Revd
Father Berry
On Dec 31st 1865 for the purpose of organizing a society to be called the St. Patrick’s Benevolent Society.
On motion
The Revd Father Berry was elected President Pro term.
On motion Jas. F. McBrearty was chosen Secretary Pro Tem.
On motion
All those who were willing to become members were called on to sign their names when the following persons declared their intention to become members by signing their names.
