I am the son of Donna Scheve, now Cieslak, and am writing (doing research) a novel that features The Old Rock Church, Catawissa, and the city of Pacific. Look for it soon "The Locals". If all goes well, it will put Catawissa on the map as well as the church. :) |

I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO SEE THE CHURCH AND CEMETERY LAST DECEMBER (2007) DURING A TRIP TO MISSOURI TO RESEARCH GENEAOLGY, I EASILY FOUND MY GREAT-GREAT GRANDFATHER'S HEADSTONE(CHRISTY BECK) AND APPRECIATE THE CARE OF THIS CEMETERY. I ALSO VISITED ST. MARY'S AT VILLA RIDGE, A FEW MILES AWAY WHERE MY OTHER GREAT-GREAT GRANDPARENTS ARE BURIED (PATRICK AND MARY EAGAN). SINCE I LIVE IN IDAHO, IT MAY BE HARD TO VISIT AGAIN, BUT I SURE WILL TRY. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE RELATED OR THAT MAY HAVE STORIES OR INFORMATION ON MY FAMILIES. Several members of my family attended mass and the picnic yesterday and just wanted to say that it was a fantastic time. Please put me on your mailing list for next year. My Great Grandfather - Herman and Great Great Grandfather Henry are buried in the cemetery. It was pretty cool to attend mass and sit in the pew with my family name on it....

I was delighted to get a bulletin several years ago describing the picnic and the area. Then discovered that my great grandfather and mother are buried at this cemetery. Maybe other relatives also. My daughter and myself will attend the picnic this year. |

I can not seem to fill out guest sheet. I live in Baltimore, MD.
My grandmother was Isabel Early (Married name Corcoran). She came from a large family. I have names which could be entered. Her parents are buried in the cemetary. Most of the Early famlly moved to St. Louis, MO. where most of them are buried in Calvary Cemetery now. Margaret J. Baumgartner |

Since first signing the guest book a few years ago, I have been to the original old cemetery. How very sad that it has been abandoned and left to fall apart. I believe my ancestors Patrick and Anne Lynch of Donore are buried there. It needs to be restored and cared for. |
